Located within our Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Machine Workshop offers a well-equipped production environment where our students can receive practical training. Our workshop hosts both educational processes aimed at developing fundamental manufacturing skills and research and development activities where student projects are brought to life.
The Machine Workshop is intensively used, especially within the scope of the workshop internship carried out at the end of the 1st year (compulsory summer internship). During this period, students learn basic production techniques through practical application. Example applications include:
Surface leveling with a file
Drilling holes with a drill
Cutting threads with a tap and die
Basic part manufacturing
These trainings aim to develop students' fundamental manual skills in manufacturing processes and their awareness of occupational safety.

Our workshop is actively used not only for courses but also for student projects and technology competitions. Our students have the opportunity to produce the mechanical parts of the systems they design within the scope of national or international competitions like TEKNOFEST in this workshop. This allows theoretical knowledge to be transformed into practice, gaining real-world experience.
Mechanical production activities required within the scope of final year graduation projects are also carried out in this workshop. Students get the chance to design and manufacture the necessary parts for their projects, experiencing the design-production cycle from start to finish.
The main machines available in our Machine Workshop are as follows:

A circular saw is a cutting tool with a rotating circular blade. It is generally used for cutting materials such as metal, wood, or plastic, either straight or at an angle. It is preferred in industrial workshops for quick and efficient cuts. It linearly cuts bar, profile, and sheet materials. It is suitable for cutting hard and thick metals. | ![]() |
Electric Arc Welding |
|
![]() |
This welding method uses an electric arc to melt and join two metal parts at high heat. The electric current creates an arc that melts the electrode and the workpiece, creating a bond. It is widely used to form strong and durable joints across a wide range of metals. |
Electric Guillotine Shear |
|
This machine, driven by an electric motor, has a blade mechanism used for cutting sheet metal plates along a straight line. Supported by hydraulic or mechanical systems, it ensures thick sheets are cut quickly, precisely, and cleanly. Its automatic blade movement makes it suitable for mass production. | ![]() |
Die Sinking Machine |
|
![]() |
A die sinking milling machine is a milling machine used specifically in mold and model making for machining deep cavities, recesses, and complex three-dimensional surfaces. It plays a critical role in the production of molds and dies by providing high precision and rigidity. |
Manuel Engine Hoist |
|
This hydraulic crane is generally designed for lifting and moving engines, transmissions, or other heavy machine components from the floor or within a vehicle in workshops. Its wheeled structure with a wide base allows for easy movement, and its hydraulic pump system can safely lift and lower loads. | ![]() |
Manuel Guillotine Shear |
|
![]() |
This hand-operated guillotine shear is used for cutting thin sheet metal or strips. It is ideal for lower production volumes or simple cutting needs. It is an easy-to-use and energy-free cutting solution. |
Manuel Sheet Metal Bender |
|
A manual sheet metal bending machine operates by hand power to bend sheet metal plates at specific angles. It is an economical and practical solution for sheet metal bending operations with simple geometries and small batch productions. It is used to create simple shapes like boxes and channels. | ![]() |
Vise Workbenches |
|
![]() |
Vise workbenches are sturdy work tables equipped with vises to securely hold workpieces. They are typically used in manual operations such as assembly, drilling, cutting, and filing, ensuring the workpiece remains stable. They are suitable for individual student practical applications. |
Dial Height Gauge |
|
A dial height gauge is a measuring instrument used to precisely measure the vertical dimensions and heights of parts or tools, starting from a reference surface (usually granite). Its dial indicator makes readings easier. | ![]() |
Single Column Height Gauge |
|
![]() |
This type of height gauge uses a measuring probe that moves on a single vertical column to determine the heights of parts or their positions relative to a surface. It is typically used in precise measurement and marking operations to check height from a datum plane. |
Motor-Driven Hydraulic Shop Press |
|
This powerful machine is used to perform many high-pressure operations in workshops. With high capacities, such as 100 tons, it easily and precisely handles heavy-duty tasks like bearing installation, shaft straightening, bending, or pressing parts into shape. Its hydraulic system ensures safe and effective results on workpieces through controlled force application. | ![]() |
Center Drill |
|
![]() |
A center drill is a short, conical-tipped drill bit used to create a precise centering point on a workpiece before starting a drilling operation. It ensures that the main drill bit starts drilling in the correct position, increasing hole accuracy. |
Radial Drilling Machine |
|
A radial drilling machine is designed for drilling holes on large and heavy workpieces. Thanks to a drill head that can move along a long arm (radial arm), it allows drilling at different points over a wide area without moving the workpiece. Its movable arm provides flexible usage. | ![]() |
Band Saw |
|
![]() |
A band saw is a machine that cuts materials using a continuously rotating, thin, and flexible metal strip (blade). It can make straight or curved cuts and is particularly effective for cutting large-sized or complex shapes of materials such as metal, wood, and plastic. It is used for cutting bars, pipes, and profiles. Material loss is low, and it provides a smooth cut. |
Plate Rolling Machine |
